Parent Support Groups – Pennsylvania Family Support Alliance
Working with the Pennsylvania Family Support Alliance, whose mission is to promote “safe children and strong families”, the YWCA offers two Parent Support Groups. One is mainly geared toward women in the Residence Program and other women living in emergency or transitional shelters. The other is open to any parents, (fathers or mothers), who prefer to speak Spanish in a support group designed to help parents cope with the “tough job of parenting” in today’s world.
Both groups offer parents a chance to relax, take a break and spend some time each week talking about the challenges they face in a safe, supportive and non-judgmental atmosphere.
A new group for those who speak Spanish begins July 15. It will meet at the YWCA every Thursday morning from 10 am until noon. For more information, call the facilitator of the group, Jenny Rosario, 9 am-4 pm weekdays at 393-1735 ext. 242.
For more information about either group, call YWCA Residence Director Mary Commero at 393-1735 ext. 222.
